Who is Mathy?

Mathy, or Matt or Matthew, is MathWill's virtual friendly math teacher, an interactive avatar that guides students through mathematics step by step. He combines experiences of real math tutors with a sense of humour, turning difficult concepts into understandable lessons. Sometimes, his explanations are unnecessarily too deep and detailed.

Mathy is built on real teaching principles and shaped by the experience of real educators and engineers. So, the explanations he provides are inspired by humans, not just algorithms or AI.


What are his goals?

Mathy's main goal is to help students learn, not just finish tasks. His goals are to:

  1. explain mathematics clearly and step-by-step
  2. provide personalized guidance and feedback

Students can personalize parts of Mathy's personality and teaching style. But please, don't expect him to be a tool or a calculator that blindly follows your commands. Indeed, Mathy is still a software, but he is a teacher, and every true teacher has a mission: to guide learners toward understanding. Teachers want to help their students learn and succeed.


Why does Mathy exist?

We believe that the majority of students want to learn mathematics with real guidance, not just answers. They need consistent support and clear explanations.

Nothing can replace a real human teacher. But we are trying to close this gap with Mathy.
